Ouch

September 25, 2011

Did you ever have one of those moments where you knew you were going to fall but were powerless to stop it? This happened to me today and boy am I hurting now. I was in the bathroom and had sprayed some stain remover on a shirt and I guess some of it must have gotten on the floor because as I turned around to throw it in the dirty clothes my socked feet began slipping.

I could not stop it the only thing I could do was ride out the Splitz that was coming my way. Guess I must have let out a loud yelp on my way down as hubby came quickly to see what was up. I have 5 pounds of clay to condition for the upcoming class next weekend and my butt is in bed or hobbling around the house.

I needed to put the finishing touches on the items for the City O Clay swap but that is not going to happen today either. My only hope is that this does not hurt worse tomorrow because I have a lot of things now on my to do list.

Amazing how something as simple as throwing the dirty laundry down can change your weekend for the worse.

Helping Hands

September 18, 2011

Funny I never looked at hands the way I have this week ever in my life. That is because I am sculpting them. Not very good mind you but I am trying which is something I never planned on doing. Bleeping hands.

My decision was to have them holding something to disguise how bad they really look. Still I would find myself pretend holding stuff up so I could make sure the thumbs were the right way. This  lead to looks from family while walking by and looking at me with my hands up or laughing at myself while hands were pretend holding something.

When was the last time you laughed at yourself while creating art?

Try it you may like it.

Vacation Mode Baby!

September 10, 2011

One of the things on my vacation checklist is to remove my chairs from my desk. They think the customers will sit down and wait for me to come back (they might). This week for me is a staycation with few plans.

I want to get work shoes. Did that one today along with a few other really good deals yea for me!

I want to watch one of son’s football games which I will do Monday after noon.

I want to finish the Colorful Ocean Creatures for the swap at City O Clay. I will be able to do that one next week while hubby is at work and son at school.

I want to not feel the pressure to complete a bunch of the things that need to be done around the house.

I want to not be distracted by one of my finds. I first saw this last year and ever since then I keep seeing this as a new clay series.

Wish me luck!

Studio Ideas

September 7, 2011

It is with the hopes of a new studio looking out over the mountaintops that I came across Libby Mills’ website with a section devoted to artists and their creative spaces.

I can only hope you may find some inspiration in them. What I really liked is there were some really small spaces so that gives us all the confidence we can create our own space that works well with our needs.

The best tips I came up with are to make sure everything has a place and you put whatever it is you are using back in it. Label, label, and label some more!

Enjoy!
